cnc plasma cutter for thick metal. CNC plasma cutter is mainly divided into contact arc cutting and non-contact arc cutting. But when it comes to the cutting process, according to the different materials the cnc plasma cutter would work on, these two cutting types have its own advantages and disadvantages. First of all, let’s have a look at the difference of these two cutting approaches.
When using Contact cutting, the gun of cnc plasma cutter can directly contact material and ignite arc. It is very stable and the cutting gap is narrow when the thickness of the plate is less than 2mm.
On the other hand, when adopting non contact cutting ways, the distance between the gun and material is usually 5-8mm. The cnc plasma cutter which uses non contact cutting ways is capable of cutting thick plate and better cooling effect than contact cutting ways.
All in all, the contact cutting cannot be used for thick plate. On the contrary, the cnc plasma cutter which is of non contact cutting is suitable for thin metal plate.
